Barbara writes:
I was so lucky to meet Mr Paulin at a reception at the London French Embassy. Over 80 at the time, he was forceful and charming, and unphased by a wave of fresh interest in his work. He had been adopted by the furniture company Ligne Roset, who put back into production his delightful Pumpkin chair, a 1971 design for the private apartments of Claude & Georges Pompidou at the Elysée Palace.
A few years earlier I had stalked Mr Paulin, to get these pictures. I had heard he was on the Artifort stand in Milan, to re-launch his famous Tongue and Ribbon chairs. I found him in full flood, and photographed him from the sideline.
