Lauren Scott, London 2013

New textile artist from Northern Ireland, with a "veggie alternative" (craft, ceramics, cloth and thread) to taxidermy.

Barbara writes:
One Year On is the section of New Designers where graduates who are now in business can show off their work. It's a favourite design rendezvous for me, as here brilliant new ideas are already on the market. Here I found Lauren Scott, and her sideways slant on taxidermy. Who could resist these fun, quirky and utterly beautiful creatures, crafted from recycled materials and finished with hand-built ceramic feet? Yes, they are playful and humorous, Lauren says, but there is a serious vein to her work, for the wildlife they depict is traditionally hunted, killed and ostracised by humans.
